Emroch & Kilduff, LLP is pleased to announce that it has donated $5,000 to the Red Cross to assist the organization in its efforts to support individuals who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. This donation reflects the firm’s strong commitment to helping people in need in any way it can. Through the generosity of the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Minor League Baseball, a portion of the firm’s contribution will be matched.

Hurricane Harvey has caused catastrophic flooding in Southeastern Texas and has displaced more than 30,000 people. According to some experts, the flooding in the area will last for weeks and cleanup from the storm could cost as much as $160 billion.

The American Red Cross has mobilized its significant resources to help those who have been affected by the storm. More than half of its fleet of emergency response vehicles have been deployed to the area. According to a press release issued by the organization, emergency responders have continued to bring evacuees to shelters across Texas and Louisiana, and more than 1,500 workers are on the ground. In addition, the Red Cross has served more than 18,000 meals and snacks since the storm started, and has enough shelter supplies to support 50,000 people in the state of Texas. The organization’s six kitchen trailers can make as many as 10,000 meals each day. The Red Cross is working in tandem with local, state, and federal authorities to deliver platelets and blood to hospitals in the area affected by the storm.
