Attorney(s) for Plaintiff: Harrison W. "Whit" Long, Richmond, VA
Summary: In August 2023, the plaintiff, a 61-year-old male, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk in downtown Richmond. The defendant disregarded a stop sign and, while attempting to make a left turn, struck the plaintiff, launching him into the air before falling to the pavement. Video surveillance corroborated the severity of the crash, as well as the defendant's failure to yield the right of way.
As a result, the plaintiff sustained multiple injuries, including rib fractures, facial lacerations, a concussion, and significant soft tissue damage. He was admitted to the hospital overnight for further evaluation.
The plaintiff settled with the liability carrier after it tendered its limits of $50,000 and then settled with the underinsured motorist carrier for $200,000.
