Bike Helmet Safety, A Priority

On June 8, 2011, almost 90 fifth-grade students at Chimborazo Elementary School in Richmond saw firsthand what their brains might look like if they were injured while riding their bikes when not wearing a bicycle helmet.
Emroch & Kilduff attorney Ward Marstiller joined Dr. Paul Aravich, from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Richmond Police Officer Stacy Rogers, a member of Richmond PD?s bike patrol, in a presentation focusing on the importance of making good choices when it comes to personal safety. To further emphasize how fragile the human brain really is and the importance of wearing a helmet, Dr. Aravich brought two real brain specimens ? one healthy and one damaged ? for the students to see and touch.
After the presentation every student in the fifth grade received a new Bell Sports bike helmet courtesy of Emroch & Kilduff and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
